Wordpress CMS site examples
For small, general-purpose business web sites the preferred web application is Wordpress. Although best known as a blog (online diary) application Wordpress also offers permanent pages as well as posts, making it ideal for a basic information web site with a news page. Limited interactivity with all visitors or just authorised contributors is available through the standard comments and articles system. A strong team at wordpress.org supports and continues to develop this application.

Joomla site examples
For web sites with several different types of content or more complex requirements the preferred web application is Joomla. Fine-grained user roles allow for extensive interactivity with different groups of visitors. The Joomla project formed as a spin-off from the popular Mambo web application when the owners changed the licensing arrangements, and the Joomla team is strongly committed to open-source principles.
